Cine Mikaso is San Pedro’s one true Arthouse Cinema, showing offbeat and interesting films, mostly in Spanish, usually with English subtitles. They’re also the only place in town showing movies that manages to get their monthly program to us. You can find them upstairs in Hotel Mikaso (see San Pedro map for location). All movies are free and start at 8pm.

Wed 1: Habana Blues
(Spain-Cuba, 2005)

Two young cuban musicians, Ruy and Tito, share the same dream: to become famous and finally leave Havana. .

Sun 5: El Crimen del Padre Amaro
(Mexico, 2002)

Young Father Amaro arrives at his new church post. Things go smoothly at first, but eventually, life becomes very complicated.

(Spain, 1998)

Two friends visit a haunted house outside a small Spanish village. They are intrigued with a room which is always closed.

Pablo Neruda, famous Chilean poet, is exiled to a small island for political reasons. He befriends his postman, who learns to love poetry

Leo Macias writes novels with great success, but her life and marriage to a soldier leave her desperate for change.

Sun 19: Carandiru

(Brazil, 2001)

Inside a State prison in 1992, a social worker studies hundreds of convicts whose degrading conditions lead to a rebellion and massacre.

Wed 22: Barrio
(Spain, 1998)

The story of three friends, Rai, Javi and Manu, with a common factor: they live in the same 'Barrio', (neighbourhood), and the three of them want to escape from it.

CLASSIC MOVIE NIGHT

Sun 26: Life of Brian

(Monty Python, UK, 1979)

A satire of Biblical films focusing on Brian, a Jew in Roman-occupied Judea. Brian is mistaken for a prophet and becomes a reluctant Messiah.
