The Director:

El Quetzal is operated by Glenda López Ximin de Cajas, a local Guatemalan.

Glenda is one of the only local women to successfully operate a Spanish school in Quetzaltenango. She was born and raised in an indigenous Mayan family in Quetzaltenango, and graduated from the university in 1993 with a degree in education.


The Teachers:

We select our staff al El Quetzal on the basis of their training and experience with teaching Spanish as a foreign language, as well as on their personality.
All are university graduates or currently enrolled, and so can engage you in conversation regarding the cultural, political, social issues that interest you.
Our experienced teaching staff will tailor each lesson to fit your learning style and will help you to optimize your Spanish learning. We look forward to your arrival and we welcome you to join our community here at El Quetzal.
